90 days in the hospital, 1 month spent in a hospital bed, unable to see my children, unable to move my left arm or leg, unable to sit up straight, to eat by myself..

I have come along way.

I still have a long way to go. There are many things I need to work on,..inside and out.

I now understand that I have to take something from all of this – to learn something from it all.
because I have been given a second chance..
and I am so grateful for this second chance that even when I feel a desperation so great that it seeps into every part of my being, soaking into my body and bones making it impossible to breathe or to move,

I still know deep down..

how lucky I am.

This is what I have to remember, this is what I will take,

this is what will help me to walk,

and one day run.

I am SOOO proud of you. You are amazing! Keep on fighting! I am living proof that doctors aren’t always right when they say you can’t walk again, and you are too! I can’t wait until you’re running a marathon! Keep the faith in yourself and in your family.

What God says is true and everything else is a lie! You are my hero, and I can’t wait to see what God is going to do with your life! The tears are rolling on my cheeks, you are so wonderful! Your courage and “your wanting” to move on is giving it back to you!!! You really are an example for all of us. Your family is lucky to have you and I am so happy to know you and you are really inspiring my way of seeing and thinking about things. Looking forward to see you again. Big kisses and keep going.

      Dear Manu,
Thank you so much for being part of my incredible support system, it wouldn’t be complete with out the Belgian girls!! I am working as hard as I can, both inside and out, to overcome this. I still have a long way to go but I am sure – slowly, slowly I will get to where I need to be. Wishing you and those you love a Merry Christmas,
      all my love,C.

  9. I have nominated you for an award because I enjoyed reading your blogs before ‘The Unexpected’ and now knowing how amazing you are getting through this… well the award seems so trivial in the light of what you are going through, however it brightened my day when it was passed to me so maybe it will do for you too. If you choose to accept the details are to be found at http://www.sandcastlesinportugal.com – Thank You For My Award. To accept you need to nominate eight blogs you enjoy and which are ‘long enough to cover everything and short enough to be interesting’.

Cassidy, we only know each other from BES and our mutual nationalities but I have been reading your blog and was shocked and amazed when I saw your video! Keep pushing – you look like you are only a few weeks away from a marathon!!! Best Wishes for a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Happy New Year!
